Nonprofit: Creating Order Out of Chaos—Helping a Nonprofit Achieve Accreditation and Federal Assistance

An educational Nonprofit Organization approached Peggy Topel-Jennings, audit partner, with a request to help them obtain accreditation, which would allow the school to receive federal tuition assistance for their students. The Nonprofit was behind in their accreditation schedule because of frequent turnover in accounting staff and incomplete accounting records. Peggy provided support to their personnel as they brought the accounting records up to date, and accelerated the audit engagement to bring the accreditation process up to schedule. The 2-year audit has been completed, and the accreditation process is moving smoothly towards successful completion.
